Scott Fankhouser, a Bismark, ND native, played his youth hockey in the Denver, CO .  He attended Loomis Chaffee Prep School where he was drafted in 1994 by the St. Louis Blues, played junior hockey for the Melfort Mustangs in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, and played college hockey at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

After graduating from Lowell, he played ten years professionally—mostly with the Atlanta Thrashers organization—and in overseas leagues in Germany, Austria and England.  Fankhouser played at all top North American professional levels, including the ECHL, former IHL, current IHL, AHL and NHL.

After retiring, Fankhouser began his coaching career in professional hockey as the Assistant Coach of the Bloomington Prairie Thunder in the IHL, then Assistant Coach for the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL.

Making the switch to Junior Hockey, Fankhouser became Coach in Chief of the Atlanta Knights Organization and Head Coach of the EJHL South Atlanta Knights for the 2011-2012 season.  In his first year, he led the EJHL South Atlanta Knights to a regular season banner, and took the EJHL South team on to win the USA Hockey Tier III Junior A National Championship.  Winning, though is not the main goal.  Coach Fankhouser and the Atlanta Knights Organization’s main focus remains to place their senior players in college and gain interest and offers for the younger players.

Scott lives with his wife Lexie and 2 sons, Isaac (5) and Gabe (3) north of Atlanta.
